An updated Standard Applicant Release Form is now available to BIS clients. The updated form is longer, but serves the dual purposes of reducing compliance risk and simplifying documentation choices.

By using the updated release form, BIS clients will automatically be providing the FCRA notice "A Summary of Your Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act." Incorporating this language into the Standard Applicant Release form ensures your applicants are informed of their rights and opportunities for recourse throughout the process. For the BIS client, this means less time spent fielding questions from applicants. It will also demonstrate additional due diligence in your hiring process in the unlikely event of employment litigation.

The new document also eliminates the need to use two separate versions of the release form for clients with multi-state operations that include California locations. Specific language required by California law is included in the updated Standard Applicant Release form and this single document may be used nationwide.
